This Is How To Make Engaging TikTok Videos
Without good hooks, your videos will fade into the ether of millions of creators trying to take your audience from you. Let's not let that happen.
Here are the three steps to crushing your videos:
1: The Hook
Retention on TikTok is one thing that sets you apart from the rest. Let's break down three hooks from bad to good to great.
Imagine you're posting a video about how common vitamin D deficiency causes so many mortalities globally:
Boring 😓
”Hey guys, in this video I’m going to explain how to”..
• We already know you're going to explain something
• Valuable time wasted in introducing what your title suggests already.
Good 🤷♂️
“Have you ever wondered why you feel so lethargic each day”..
• Sparks more curiosity
• Uses a relatable feeling (lethargy)
Great 🤩
”10,000 people die from this one deficiency each year, and here’s how you can fix it”.
• Sparks massive curiosity
• Explains the result of Vitamin D deficiencies = death
• Offers a solution so you don't succumb to, well, death.
2: Front Load Value + Keeping Viewers Hooked
So now that the hook is out of the way, the WORST thing you can do is make people wait even longer for the actual value you aim to communicate.
Sadly, many creators get people interested, only to provide value way later in the video, leading to major drop-offs in retention. Here's the thing, people aren't stupid. They WILL skip, which can negatively affect your retention metrics.
Instead, start with a good hook, then immediately explain the golden nuggets. Here's an example using the topic explained in point #1:
Hook:
”10,000 people die from this one deficiency each year, and here’s how you can fix it”.
Front loading value
"Since 2020 (this is not accurate information FYI), around 10,000 people die each year due to a Vitamin D deficiency."
You've explained what the deficiency is – now viewers want to know how to fix it, which leads to the Problem + how to fix it.
Problem + Fix
“You see, vitamin D deficiencies are common due to things like whether you work from home, where in the live in the world, and what you wear – things like sunglasses and loads of clothing will block your ability to absorb those little sunshine rays.
But for most people the answer is simple, supplement using a high-quality, organic vitamin D3 + K2 supplement. The D3 takes care of the deficiency, while the K2 ensures the increased calcium absorption from the D3 goes to your bones,
and not your heart, cause then you could just die in a totally different way (humour).”

You explained how to take it for optimal health
3: Use CTAs To Drive Business/Followers
A call to action or “CTA” can be a great way to direct engaged viewers. But there’s some nuance you need to understand when doing this. Here are some dos and don'ts:
Don’t:
Have broad CTAs like “Follow me for more TikTok videos”
Use CTAs in every video. Mix things up. Not all content needs a CTA.
Make it hard for people to find CTAs.
Do:
Have specific CTAs “Be sure to follow me for more health optimization content”
Use CTAs for various reasons: drive e-book sales, consultations, etc.
Use a sleek link in bio (or domain name) to direct people to your product/site.
Examples of good CTAs for the above video example:
“if you love learning about interesting health and wellness facts, follow me more daily content!”
“If you want to 10x your productivity with a solid vitamin stack, hit the link in my bio to download my free vitamin guide for beginners”
